Placing bets
In roulette, there are many different betting combinations all of which have different odds and pay-outs for winning. You can bet on a single number, split it between a few numbers or bet on groups of numbers. The more numbers covered, the better chance of getting a win, however this also means lower pay-outs. The many betting combinations of roulette can be divided into three categories. Inside bets, outside bets and call bets. Inside and outside betting are a need to know. These will be found on all roulette tables and are the basics of the game. Call bets are generally just with European roulette for what is known as the race track. These are usually for the more experienced gambler but can be a really fun bet once you wrap your head around it.
Inside bets
Inside bets are the bets placed on the numbers themselves. This can be done directly on one number or split between a few numbers. The table below will outline the different bets and which numbers they cover.
Outside bets
As you can see, there are still more sections on the layout. These too are for placing bets and can also be divided into three categories.
Even chance bets:
❖ Red or black – Bet on the colour of the winning number ❖ Odd or even – Bet if the winning number will be odd or even ❖ 1-18 or 19-36 – Bet if the winning number will be a high or low number
Dozens:
On the layout, the dozens will appear as 1st 12, 2nd 12 and 3rd 12. You are betting on whether you think the winning number will be between 1 – 12, 13 – 24 or 25 – 36.
Colums:
Also covering 12 numbers, you can bet that the winning number will be in the chosen vertical column. For example, covering 1, 4, 7, 10 and so on down to 34.
Call bets
Technically called announced bets, but most commonly known as calls bets and are basically bets that you will announce to the dealer, not to worry though, these can also be found online. Call bets are specifically for French or European roulette and can be split into 2 categories, French bets and neighbour bets. You will also need to be familiar with the racetrack. The racetrack looks like this with the numbers showing in the order as they are on the wheel.

A minimum of 5 chips will be needed, each casino will also have their own minimums for call bets, so it accounts for one chip straight up on each of the 5 number.
